Project Assignment:
Creative Housing Solutions provides ongoing Architectural Design, Program Management, and Contract Administration for the Blueprint for Success program. This is a pilot partnership program between the City of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency (CAA) to help at-risk youth receive an education and construction skills as they revitalize/build houses in an inner city neighborhood. Upon graduation participants that want to enter the construction industry will be guaranteed a job in the field. Other participants will be able to use the transferable skills learned (ex. communication, work ethic, leadership) in other jobs, while receiving higher education, or pursuing entrepreneurship.
These historic properties, once renovated, will be sold and provide homeownership to a low to moderate income household. To further support the affordability of the home the renovation projects will include one rental unit.
IIn addition to renovation, Creative Housing Solutions is also developing projects that will reclaim abandoned properties and be single family homes; creating a new urban affordable housing prototype.
Project Details:
The existing 125 year old brick vacant residence had a fire damaged and open roof and the alley accessible garage was collapsed.
The renovation returned two units to the neighborhood: one 3 bedroom and one 2 bedroom unit with alley accessible surface parking.
The construction costs to for the 2,970 square feet total area were completed for $80 per square foot. |
