Rendering of Townhouse Façade Improvements

Client:
Butler Metropolitan Housing Authority
4110 Hamilton-Middletown Road
Hamilton, Ohio 45011
Attn. Jeff Ranck, Development Director
(513) 896-4411

Project Assignment:
Prepare renderings describing the project’s new appearance for resident awareness and to introduce the project to the local community.

Assignment Details:

CHS conducted a thorough analysis based on client needs which included:

  • Remove deteriorated 8-story masonry screen wall. This wall system was original to the building and the steel frame against the concrete deck prevented proper drainage of the water.  This cause water to remain on the deck surface, eventually the steel reinforcing was rusting and spauling the deck surface. Renovation was in two parts: Deck restoration and replacing the screen wall with an aluminum tube and e-coated perforated steel panel system.

  • The rendering was done with SketchUp 6 software.  Combining aerial photographs of the site and surrounding buildings, accurate detail of the railing assembly, the manufacturer’s color palette a three-dimensional model was created.  After the model is constructed, several views were selected to demonstrate standing on the new deck and the visual experience of the new railing and balcony design.  The ‘solid’ wall experience would be more open in the new configuration, so ‘feeling’ the new experience through drawings was important and helpful to understanding the project.
