Project Assignment:
Prepare design documents and construction administration for the renovation/improvements at Westview Terrace Apartments. Westview Terrace is a public housing development consisting of 150 units in 40 buildings. Work included preparation of: Design Drawings, Project Manual, and Construction Monitoring.
Assignment Details:
The project scope was to develop a design to renovate the existing bathroom to replace the bathtubs with shower enclosures removing the existing bathroom window, replace the sinks/vanities/and medicine cabinets and lighting, replace toilets and bathroom accessories. Bedroom closet door slide hardware and door panels were replaced.
CHS began the process by meeting with executive staff to understand their concerns and objectives.
CHS conducted through development and unit assessments which included:
- Inspection of each building type, size and layout.
- Inspection of existing plumbing at each building type.
- Inspection of building exteriors for window removal.
Building Design: CHS developed a design to renovate the existing bathrooms to provide showers and enclosures at the existing bathtubs. Windows at the tub were removed and a new light/exhaust installed. Vanities, toilets and bathroom accessories were added to update the deteriorated furnishings. All bedroom closet door hardware was replaced with heavy duty hardware and bypass doors as needed for safety of the tenants.
